As Dr Crystal Oldman CBE steps down as Chief Executive of the Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing (QICN) on 30 June 2025, the staff team extends its deepest gratitude for her outstanding leadership, vision, and unwavering dedication to community nursing.

Since taking up the post in 2012, Dr Oldman has been a tireless champion for community nurses, advocating for their essential role in delivering high-quality care to people in their homes and communities across the UK. Under her leadership, the organisation has grown in influence and reach, providing stronger support, voice, and recognition for nurses working in all community settings.

Her legacy is one of compassion, integrity, and transformative leadership. Dr Oldman’s work has inspired a generation of nurses and leaders, and her commitment to equity and excellence in community care will continue to shape the profession for years to come.

As the incoming Chief Executive succeeding Dr Oldman, I want to extend my warmest wishes to her for a long, healthy and happy retirement. I am grateful for your support over the last few years and particularly in the last three months during our handover period.

Dr Oldman was formally thanked in person by the Chair and Council of the QICN at their meeting on 25th June 2025. Dr John Unsworth OBE, Chair, praised Dr Oldman’s achievements during her highly successful tenure. Healthcare leaders, including three chief nurses of England, paid tribute to Dr Oldman in a gathering at the QICN offices that followed the meeting.

Dr Oldman is expected to take up voluntary roles during her ‘preferment’ following her nursing career. She remains affiliated to the QICN as a Queen’s Nurse; she is also a holder of the QICN’s Gold Badge, its highest award.
