QICN Launches New Faculty of Adult Social Care Nursing
1 July 2025
The Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing is proud to announce the launch of its new Faculty of Adult Social Care Nursing, a landmark initiative designed to strengthen the voice, status, and professional development of nurses working across adult social care settings.
The new Faculty was announced by Steph Lawrence MBE, in her first day as Chief Executive of the charity. Ms Lawrence was visiting Jubilee House in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, with Deborah Sturdy CBE, Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care Nursing at the DHSC.
Masline Chitura, Quality Director at Berkley Care Group, co-ordinated the joint DHSC and QICN visit to Jubilee House.
I’m delighted to launch the new Faculty of Adult Social Care Nursing on my first day leading the QICN. The Faculty recognises the expertise and leadership of adult social care nurses who deliver care in diverse and often challenging environments, developing a new and much-needed platform to influence policy, research, and innovation in care. I believe this is a major step forward in raising the profile of this essential workforce.
Steph Lawrence MBE, QICN Chief ExecutiveThe Faculty aims to provide strategic leadership, advocacy, and specialist education to support nurses in delivering high-quality, person-centred care across care homes, domiciliary services, and wider community-based provision. It is the first dedicated faculty of its kind in the UK, underscoring the vital role of adult social care nursing in an evolving health and care landscape.
The Faculty will work closely with key partners across health and social care, and will serve as a hub for professional support, workforce planning, and the sharing of best practice.
